Concrete Votives

Concrete Votives

Materials

  • Concrete Mix
  • Sand
  • Water
  • Mold (we used an empty soda can)
  • Candle
  • Painter’s tape
  • Metallic Paint
  • Gloves

Instructions

  1. Follow directions on concrete and prepare mixture accordingly. Combine 1 part concrete to 4 parts sand. Add a small amount of water and mix.
  2. Pour the mixture into your mold and gently tap to even out concrete. Create the desired size of your votive by placing a candle on top of the wet concrete, and gently pressing down. You may want to place a heavier object on top of your candle to ensure it stays in place while the concrete sets. Let the votive dry for 8-12 hours.
  3. Gently pull or cut the mold off. If you used a soda can, be sure to wear gloves. Use painter’s tape to create your desired design, and brush on metallic paint.

Pro Tip

Dip your votives into the paint for an even quicker turn-around time.
